Historic District Minutes 04/12/07
APPROVED
Historic District Commission
Meeting Minutes
April 12, 2007

Members attending:  Fitzwilliam, Guild, Luddy and Walling.
CTO: 4:00 PM.

Gary Taylor application to re-place a free standing business sign 3 Templeton Turnpike, Map 32, Lot 47, Historic and Residential Districts.

Commission members reviewed the application, which did not specify dimensions, material or placement of the sign.  Fitzwilliam noted that Mr. Taylor had a sign at the same location years ago and the brackets to hold the sign were still in place, which gave an indication of the possible size and placement of the sign.

Luddy pointed out that the sign would need to conform to the town sign ordinance for the district in which the shop was located. The shop is located in the Residential and Historic Districts, across the street from the Village Center Business District boundary.  Luddy also noted that wood was the preferred material for the sign and that approval could be conditional.

Guild moved, Walling seconded and the Commission approved the Taylor sign application, with the following conditions 1) conformity with the Town sign ordinance and obtaining a sign permit, 2) sign is made of wood, 3) that the color and font type are as presented in the application.

Minutes:  Luddy moved, Walling seconded and the Commission voted to approve the March 22, 2007 minutes as written.

Design Guidelines:  The Commission members briefly discussed design guidelines for the historic district, but decided to postpone the discussion until all members are present.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 PM.
