APPROVED
Historic District Commission
Public Hearing
September 27, 2007
Members attending: John Fitzwilliam, Lottie Guild, Brian Luddy, Eileen McHugh, and Reuel Walling.
CTO: 7 PM
Fitzwilliam welcomed the public to the hearing, describing the Commissioners as trustees of Fitzwilliam’s historic resource, as the watchdogs over the visual environment of the Historic District. He added that the aim of the Commission is to preserve original structures as much as possible. Guild stated that it is important for the residents of the District to know what they can do and what they can’t do, adding that the written guidelines are designed to make that clear.
Mr. Gorzelany, a resident in the Historic District, expressed his desire to preserve open land and insure that appropriately sized structures, in keeping with the neighborhood, are built in the District.
There was discussion about various experiences but no further comment on the design guidelines per se. The Commission will vote on the guidelines at their next meeting on October 11, 2007 and if adopted they will be published and available on November 1, 2007.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM.
