Historic District Minutes 12/12/06
DRAFT
Historic District Commission
Meeting Minutes
December 12, 2006

Members attending:  John Fitzwilliam, Lottie Guild, Brian Luddy, Reuel Walling
CTO: 4:00 PM.

Macreay Landy proposes a change in size and lettering of existing free standing sign at 56 NH 119 W.

Mr. Landy was not present.  The Commission reviewed application and Luddy agreed a business sign with the owner’s name on it is very helpful to customers. The proposed sign meets town code per Article VII, Section 127-F, Freestanding signs.

Luddy moved, Guild seconded and the Commission voted to approve the application as presented, with the stipulation that the sign be no larger than 48 inches by 36 inches.

Cindy Howe proposes to build a storage shed on property located at 106 NH Route 119W (Hannah Davis House).

Paul Wagner presented the Hannah Davis House application for a 12X8 foot shed to be located within the wetlands overlay district.  The shed is less than 100 square feet and therefore is thought to be exempt from the WPOD ordinance regulations.  Original plans for the property showed a shed in the spot Mr. Wagner has designated for his shed.  The area was used for composting bins by previous owner.

The gable end of the Amish shed will face the road, but since the land drops away at the end of the driveway, Mr. Wagner believes very little of the shed will actually be visible from the road.  He planned to leave the shed its natural cedar finish, but Commission members felt it would be more in keeping with historic district if it was painted to match the color of home and trim.

Mr. Wagner said he will keep lawn furniture and equipment in the shed.  He will keep any hazardous materials in a cabinet in the garage. Guild moved, Walling seconded and the Commission voted to approve the application as presented with the stipulation that it be painted to match home and trim.

Minutes:  Guild moved, Luddy seconded and the Commission approved the minutes of the November 9, 2006 meeting as written. (There was some question about what the actual color of Esper sign will be – will get clarification and amend if necessary.)

McHugh purchased several reference books to begin a Historic District Commission library.  She will be reimbursed.  Books will be kept in Land Use Office.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:00 PM.
